Have you ever found that when you make a clear - from your heart - intention to let go of something (usually resistance) and take steps towards a desire you have been scared about for a while - that the universe comes to your assistance?
That's what I've started to find with my road to self-acceptance and body consciousness.
Now, please don't misunderstand me - I'm not here to say that I've suddenly overhauled my entire eating patterns, exercise regime - and now have six pack abs, am able to run a half marathon and could teach a yoga class - that's not even my aim (well, it would be kinda cool to be a yoga teacher, but I digress)....
What has happened? I have acknowledged the areas of my health, body and diet that are not how I'd like them to be - and instead of feeling overwhelmed by the task ahead and trying to tackle everything at once - my old, overachieving, perfectionist approach - I have been able to take one step at a time and gently introduce some new approaches and habits into my life - with some help.
I have talked about my nutritionist - and she is giving me some tips, plans and strategies to put into play with my diet. With her encouragement, I’m starting a 6 week liver detox soon - it is my very first one and I’m feeling a combination of excitement and nervousness.
I have found a lovely, local physiotherapist who is helping me build my core muscle strength - and I have decided to go back to regular appointments with my beautiful acupuncturist who is also a trained physiotherapist and treats people from a holistic perspective.
My daily yoga and meditation practice has started up again - after a hiatus in Hawaii. I can start to feel my arms strengthening and my hamstrings lengthening, as well as my mind becoming more balanced and peaceful.
Planned next steps include to invest in a slow cooker, increase my culinary skills and then introduce some resistance training into my exercise repertoire.
But my ultimate aim is to learn to love myself exactly as I am right now - and then from this place of self-acceptance, take steps towards creating the body, health and vitality I really desire.
